A Special Thank You!

We wanted to reach out and say ‘thank you so much’  for supporting us as we grow and expand our ministry of discipleship and mentoring in Southern Africa.

It is such a joy to be back!

Wow, November already!  Has the year flown by for you all as well?  We are really enjoying the days full of sunshine and seasonal thunderstorms here in our Southern Hemisphere spring.  Rainy season is definitely here!

In the last several weeks, we have been meeting with hurting people and pointing them to God’s heart which also includes hospitality and meals together.  The ministry of Align is growing in numbers and people are growing in freedom and greater understanding of their identity in Christ.  There have also been a few bumps in the road which Dan lovingly confronted and there was sincere repentance.  It’s wonderful!

The student ministry at New Horizon has closed for the year and will resume in January or February when everyone comes back to school.  Janell has been asked to do some consulting at a local elementary school and we are meeting soon to discuss how we can help with some mentoring/counseling for hurting students which will be amazing!

The big camp for the students at our church’s youth ministry is coming up on December 1-5 and we are assisting with some preparations and planning for that again.  I have lost count, but I think this is our 6th or 7th year helping with the G300 youth camp in Bethlehem because we used to drive to serve while we were living in Johannesburg.  About half of the intern team from Impact Africa who joined us for ministry a month ago will return to help with the camp.  It’s going to be epic!

Dan helped our neighbors get water to their home this week.  It involved multiple plans (I think plan c worked!) with digging trenches, pulling pipes, and fixing water filters and pumps. It’s been difficult for them to carry buckets from our home to theirs every day and will be a tremendous blessing to their family.

We planted a massive garden last week and are hopeful of getting a lot of veggies and herbs for our family and to share with others.  We also have been doing a bit of landscaping and making our rental home and yard more beautiful.

Now that Dan has permanent residency, it gives us permission to dream about what the next 20+ years of ministry could look like for us in Africa.  It’s hard to properly convey the relief and joy this brings us!  We have been having some meetings with several other ministries and schools and it seems like there are some incredible opportunities for Magezi to expand into many more areas in the coming months and years to impact more and more of Bethlehem and the different people groups here.  Sorry to be a bit ambiguous, but these things will (or won’t) happen in God’s perfect timing and we need to be patient as things roll out on African time here.  Amazing things are ahead, and we promise to tell you more as things come together.  The best is yet to come!

As we are winding down our year, we are reflecting on God’s goodness.  We are so thankful to the Lord for the season “at home” in the states and for the amazing connections we had with family and friends.  We are so thankful we were able to be with Dan’s family as his mom went to heaven last year December.  We are so thankful that Dan’s Permanent Residency came through and that we were able to return to life and ministry in our “home” in Bethlehem, South Africa.  We are grateful to our community and church here which have helped us settle back in so well.

We are incredibly grateful to YOU ALL who have supported us with your prayers and finances for so many years.

With our expanded budget, we are currently at 95% of our monthly needs and we would be exceedingly blessed to have our ministry be considered when you do your year end giving.

With joy and grateful hearts,
Dan and Janell
